Pico: a carousel editor for iPhone and iPad, built with React Native

Pico is our own app for making social posts and multi-slide carousels on a phone. A project starts as one canvas and becomes a carousel when you add a slide. Editing happens on the device, with no account, sign-in or cloud storage.

Editing

  • Layered photos and text, moved with drag, pinch and rotate, with snapping to centres, edges and right angles.
  • Undo and redo that treat one gesture or one text edit as a single step.
  • Five bundled font families with controls for size, weight, spacing, colour and background.
  • Slides that can be added, duplicated, reordered or built from photos.
  • Export to PNG, JPEG or WebP at the project’s full size, and save a whole carousel to the photo library.

One codebase

Pico is built with Expo and React Native. The same project runs on Android with the same gestures and tools, so an Android release does not need a second app. Layer and slide managers give people who can’t use gestures a precise way to edit.
